Community-Led Dengue Risk Mapping in the Slum Settlements of Dhaka
GroupMappers has been awarded a new project titled “Community-Led Dengue Risk Mapping in the Slum Settlements of Dhaka.” The project is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is being implemented by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) in collaboration with GroupMappers as the local community organization.
The project officially started on 15 April 2026 and will continue until January 2027. Its main goal is to collaboratively develop a Dengue Vulnerability Index with active participation from local communities, and ultimately establish a scalable model that can be used by relevant stakeholders for planning and decision-making.
As GroupMappers, we are providing the technical support throughout the project. Our activities include developing a baseline map using drone imagery and secondary sources such as satellite images. We will also conduct field-level mapping with community mappers and volunteers, carrying out spatial analysis and modelling, and co-developing an interactive data visualization dashboard.
