Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV)

GroupMappers has been providing long-term technical and geospatial support to the Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV) campaigns under Bangladesh’s National Rabies Elimination Program (NREP) since 2018. The national MDV initiative has been running since 2011 and continues as a regular program conducted two to three times each year across different upazilas. Our support focuses on strengthening campaign implementation through digital data systems, field mapping, team coordination, and evidence-based monitoring to improve vaccination coverage and reporting.

As part of this collaboration, GroupMappers designs and manages digital data collection tools using KoBoToolbox, supports real-time field reporting, and leads capacity building for vaccination campaigns. We directly provide training by deploying our trainers to campaign upazilas, where they train field teams on digital data collection, GPS capture, and data quality assurance. To date, we have conducted 1,200+ training sessions and trained 100+ upazila-level trainers, strengthening local capacity for effective campaign implementation.

Through this continuous engagement, the MDV campaigns have achieved wide geographic reach, covering 64 districts in the first vaccination round, 39 districts in the second, and 8 districts in the third. The program has generated over 2.9 million digital dog vaccination records, including around 2.0 million geolocation points, enabling detailed mapping and spatial analysis to support planning, monitoring, and decision-making for rabies elimination efforts in Bangladesh.
