We support communicable disease control programs under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) in Bangladesh through collection of high quality, high resolution geospatial data. The locations and identities of communities (villages, towns, cities) are key information needed for Health Information Systems (HIS) to produce maps of disease patterns and healthcare activities, to guide allocation of healthcare resources and for planning of interventions for disease control and elimination. However in many countries, including Bangladesh, this information is often missing, incomplete or inaccurate. GroupMappers aims to develop low cost methods to generate and update this location and placename information through volunteer activities and crowdsourcing working in partnership with people based in the communities being mapped. The data generated with be shared with the MOHFW and made publicly available online to maximise the potential benefits of use of this data for a wide range of possible applications.
What We Do
What We Do
We support communicable disease control programs under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) in Bangladesh through collection of high quality, high resolution geospatial data. The initial goal is to map communities in selected rural areas. Once, complete, the next stap will be to label the polygons with the names of communities through crowdsourcing.
